Blood Match
Chapter 26: Union
⚜️ Special Event ⚜️
Tonight I’m sharing three chapters of Blood Match in a single evening—7, 8, and 9 p.m. Think of it as a binge-night for this story. Each chapter carries the story forward into the heart of the Yule arc.
⚜️ Author’s Note ⚜️
This is a fade-to-black version of the chapter. It contains mature themes, but intimate details are closed at the threshold. The focus is on Leo and Liam’s bond, consent, and the supernatural communion that follows.
The following two days were consumed with constant meetings and preparations. Leo spent most of his time secluded with Alexi and Maria, strategizing how to handle the gathering of numerous coven leaders for Yule.
Security was a major concern, as well as determining ranking and status among the vampires. These hierarchies were constantly shifting, and the delicate dance of power had to be followed carefully or it could result in disaster.
It was well past midnight when Leo walked into the bedroom. Liam had curled up on a comfortable chair by the fire and was reading. He looked up as Leo entered. He could almost see the waves of tension coming off of him, it was in his manner, the way he held himself, his shoulders hunched as if weighed down by impossible weight. The joy had gone out of him and even though he was a vampire, he looked exhausted.
"Rough meeting?" Liam asked, setting the book aside as he glanced up.
"Mmm," Leo murmured, his head dipping slightly in frustration. "The next time I say, 'Hey, let's go to Spain and celebrate Yule,' do me a favor and kill me. This has got to be the worst idea I've had in a hundred years."
Liam stood, a small smile playing at the corner of his lips. "I'm not exactly sure how to kill a vampire," he teased, stepping closer, "but I do know how to help one unwind."
He reached over and deftly began unbuttoning Leo's shirt.
“Unwind?” Leo questioned, arching a brow as he watched Liam’s hands work. “It’ll take more than a few undone buttons to fix this disaster. Security’s going to be an absolute nightmare, and don’t even get me started on the seating arrangements at dinner. We’re hosting coven leaders from all over the world. Vampires are ridiculously touchy about status.”
Liam hummed thoughtfully, finishing the last few buttons and sliding the shirt off Leo’s shoulders. “And how exactly do vampires determine status?” he asked, letting his fingers rest lightly on Leo’s shoulders. He began to knead gently, pleased by the way Leo sighed and leaned into his touch.
One hand slid down to take Leo’s, threading their fingers together as he guided him toward the bed.
“Age, mostly,” Leo replied, his voice relaxing ever so slightly. “The older the vampire, the more respect they command. Although coven size is a secondary determining factor.”
He sank onto the edge of the bed, Liam settling behind him without hesitation. Liam’s hands resumed their work on Leo’s tense shoulders, his touch firm but comforting.
“And is there a prize for the most stressed-out host?” Liam teased softly as he began pressing kisses along the back of Leo’s neck.
“Mmm, that feels good,” Leo admitted, his voice softer now.
“I could listen to you talk all day,” Liam murmured against his skin, his lips brushing lightly over Leo’s neck. “But right now, I’d rather do something where you don’t have to talk at all.”
Instead of answering, Liam leaned in and began to nibble his ear lobe, slowly and deliberately, his tongue tracing the curl of Leo’s ear. Leo responded instantly, a soft growl rumbled in his throat. Turning quickly Leo pushed Liam down onto the bed, their bodies tangling together.
Liam could see the fire burning in Leo’s eyes. He stilled, looking into them, quiet, waiting. What he saw there thrilled him and sent a shiver of fear down his back.
This was no longer kind and gentle Leo, this was a predator—and Liam knew he was the prey. Leo leaned down and licked Liam’s carotid.
“Mine,” he growled, fastening his mouth to the side of Liam’s neck. He didn’t bite, but licked and sucked at his skin, savoring the taste.
“Leo,” Liam whispered, holding him closer. “I want you, I want you so bad.”
“Do you have a safe word if things become too intense?” Leo asked, looking down at him.
“Pineapple,” Liam said solemnly.
Leo blinked, then laughed. “Pineapple?”
Liam giggled. “Yep. Pineapple.” The predator retreated just enough, and now Liam could see both the fire and the love.
“Oh Liam, you are a joy,” Leo said, kissing him with passion.
“Less talk, sir, and more undressing,” Liam teased.
Clothes were shed, laughter and heat sparking in the firelight. Then Leo whispered in his ear: “Tonight, you’ll learn patience.”
The rest needed no words.
The feelings kept mounting, building minute by minute, until it seemed to become an incandescent fire within that radiated between them, first in Leo and then Liam, cycling until it consumed them both in the flaming conflagration of their passion.
Leo hovered above Liam, their breaths mingling, the air between them charged. His hand cupped Liam's cheek, thumb brushing lightly over flushed skin, and his dark eyes locked onto Liam's with an intensity that sent a shiver down Liam's spine.
"Do you feel that?" Leo whispered, his voice low and almost reverent.
Liam nodded in wonder, his own breathing beginning to match Leo's. "Yes," he gasped.
"I don't know how to explain it," Leo said, his voice trembling ever so slightly. "But I can feel you, your love, your emotions, even your thoughts."
Liam blinked, taking a moment to consider what Leo said and what it meant. He was about to speak, but the words died on his lips as a sudden sensation washed over him. It wasn't just the warmth of Leo's body against his. He felt it: Leo's desire as though it were his own. The hunger, the possessiveness, the fierce protectiveness. But more than that, he felt a wave of emotions he hadn’t expected—reverence, union, and love.
"I..." Liam gasped, his eyes widening. "I can feel you, too! What's happening?"
Before Leo could respond, a flood of images filled Liam's mind, overlapping with his own thoughts. He saw himself through Leo's eyes: flushed, beautiful, trembling. He felt Leo's pride at making him feel this way, his need to protect and cherish. At the same time, Leo's thoughts were overwhelmed by Liam's perspective: the press of Leo's hands, the sensation of their closeness, the overwhelming magnetism that made him surrender so completely.
Their breaths synchronized, their minds intertwining like threads in a tapestry. Liam's gasp of wonder was echoed by Leo, but it was no longer clear whose feeling it was. Each touch, each heartbeat, each sigh became a shared experience, amplified and reflected back through their connection.
The sensations built and spiraled outward, and with them came an energy that seemed to fill the room. It wasn't just heat or light; it was something primal, something alive. A faint glow began to emanate from their bodies, soft and golden at first, but growing brighter with every passing moment. The walls of the room seemed to hum in response.
In the heat of their passion, they gave into it. The glow intensified, spreading outward like ripples in a pond. Liam's hands gripped Leo's shoulders as their shared rapture crested, their bodies and minds merging into a single, radiant entity.
There were no barriers anymore, no distinctions between where one ended and the other began. They were at once one and yet distinct. As their climax approached, the glow around them blazed like a sun, flooding the room with light. The energy surged outward, building with their impending communion.
And then it happened—they reached the summit and gave into the bliss of full union, the light surrounding and cradling them in power.
Next chapter drops at 8 p.m.: the Pierce siblings take flight.
