Who I Write And Why
When I started writing, I realized early on that I gravitated toward heroes—strong, sweep-you-off-your-feet, protective, curl-up-on-the-couch-after-a-long-day heroes.
My main characters tended to have clear moral centers. They were never confused, never had a crisis of conscience—they were perfect. Someone once observed that I shared some of the traits of my main character, Leonidas De La Cruz. Although I was flattered, I had to be honest—that wasn’t actually true.
I didn’t write my heroes because I saw myself as them. I wrote them because I had been searching for the hero all my life. That pair of arms to encircle me, that heart that would beat for me alone, the voice that would soothe me and tell me everything was okay. I was never the hero—I was the one waiting for the hero to show up.
So writing was therapy—wish fulfillment. I could pour myself into creating that knight in shining armor who solved the problems, swept the love interest off their feet, and was “home” for them.
So when Leonidas De La Cruz showed up on my figurative doorstep, I was all in. He was handsome, strong, good—and a little wounded. My ideal hero. The kind who was searching for someone who would make him whole.
So when Liam opens the gallery door and, taking Leo’s hand, invites him inside, a connection is made. That simple act of familiarity, of warmth, of being human propels both of them forward toward finding completion—though they might not know it yet.
The story of Leo and Liam is a classic: pain and tragedy bringing two souls together. But it is more than just a simple trope here.
It is fate operating on a divine timeline. Leo has known the solitude of centuries—always searching for, but never finding, the one who can complete him. Liam has lost the love of his life, taken from him too soon, in a senseless accident.
They come together at the right moment, when each needs the other to begin healing—a lifeline that neither of them expects.
Their story is a reminder that even across centuries and heartbreak, fate weaves its own tapestry. And in its threads, healing waits for those brave enough to reach out, and take another by the hand.
Until next time, remember: even in the darkness, a spark of magic can bring light.
Thank you for walking this path with me.

Thank you for explaining who you write for and why.
I always think authors have a little of themselves in all their characters, and we readers associate a certain character or characters to the author as I have done with you, I know I’m not correct but it’s how I see you in those particular characters.
Thank you for the explanation.❤️
