When I started writing, I realized early on that I gravitated toward heroes—strong, sweep-you-off-your-feet, protective, curl-up-on-the-couch-after-a-long-day heroes.

I always think authors have a little of themselves in all their characters, and we readers associate a certain character or characters to the author as I have done with you, I know I’m not correct but it’s how I see you in those particular characters.
